Nicaragua Won the Miss Universe 2023 Crown



Sheynnis Palacios, a television host and model hailing from Nicaragua, achieved a historic milestone by clinching the prestigious Miss Universe title at the 72nd finals held in San Salvador, El Salvador, on November 18, 2023. This remarkable triumph signifies the inaugural occasion on which a Nicaraguan contestant has secured the coveted crown.

Amidst intense competition, the 23-year-old Palacios surpassed the first runner-up, Anntonia Porsild from Thailand, and the second runner-up, Moraya Wilson from Australia. Among the top 10 finalists contending for the title alongside Palacios were Camila Avella from Colombia, Isabella García-Manzo from El Salvador, Camila Escribens from Peru, Michelle Dee from the Philippines, Karla Guilfú Acevedo from Puerto Rico, Athenea Pérez from Spain, and Diana Silva from Venezuela.

A total of 84 contestants from across the globe participated in the Miss Universe 2023 pageant, showcasing their elegance and style in segments featuring evening gowns, swimsuits, and national costumes. Palacios captivated the audience with her choice of a stunning black embellished costume, masterfully crafted by Jorge Salazar Caliz. Drawing inspiration from the Nicaraguan Grackle, a beautiful bird indigenous to her homeland, Palacios graced the stage with poise and elegance.
